Maximizing Your Newsletter Impact

Maximizing Your Newsletter Impact

Newsletter printing is a good way to stay in touch with your customers, the local community or even your whole company. It is a good public relations tool that can sell your image and of course give the messages and announcements that you want quickly to a wide audience. Investing in newsletter printing however can cost you in terms of printing. Hence, it is prudent to protect that investment by maximizing your newsletter's impact.

To help you create nice and effective color newsletters, we have created this little guide for you to follow. Hopefully this lets you maximize the impact of your newsletter so that you can get your messages across to your audience.
Clarify your goals
Newsletters should have a primary goal. It is not just a simple newsletter print; it should be a tool for a larger purpose. It can be your public relations medium for the local community which is your potential customers. It can be a corporate communications tool, preserving your image internally among your employees and announcing your corporate philosophy. Of course, it can also be a medium to deliver news to certain groups which is part of a larger campaign. Whatever the reason, deciding on the primary goal of a newsletter sets its tone and design.

Write concisely with a consistent style and language
If it is all about news, then the writing and layout should be about the most important issues of concern. The writing should be concise with attention to facts and not speculation. For public relations, a lighter more feature like tone is more recommended. Of course for marketing, newsletters can be more advertisement like with emphasis on products and the company itself. It is important to keep the style consistent so that the newsletter can appear as one whole work with a specific purpose. This also means that the language used should be consistent and it should be easily understood by your target audience. With the correct writing technique you should have a well made newsletter that delivers its message efficiently.

Use the Newsletter layout to your advantage
Now, in terms of the newsletter's layout you can maximize it by adhering to a few concepts from newspapers. First, you should have a headline that is large and eye catching. Accompanied by that, an image or picture relating to the headline should support it. Next, since people use a kind of “Z” pattern when perusing a newsletter or newspaper, try to place your other smaller headlines and images in those places in order of importance. This means that the order should be top left, top right, center, bottom left and bottom right. So if you want to emphasize one issue over another, place it in a location with a higher “order”.

Always have Images
Lastly, always think about placing images in your newsletter. A picture pains a thousand words as they say, People can relate more and look more closely at images. A full block of text in a newsletter is not exactly appealing. So to get the most out of your newsletter printing add images when you can.

Those should be the basics for maximizing the Impact of your newsletters. Use newsletters wisely and you should benefit from the effect they have in your target audience.
